Trend #1: a sporty allure for everyday life

This spring, people are increasingly taking advantage of the joy of being outdoors because of the ongoing situation. Sportswear is suddenly in high demand, since it offers comfort and protection like no other type of eyewear.

“You may not believe it, but the pandemic has even had an impact on the catwalks, with the appearance of ‘shield’ type glasses!” explains Jade. Sports glasses are now part of our everyday life, with comfortable eyewear that is definitely in vogue and that protects your eyes wonderfully, like Julbo’s sunglass collection.

Trend #2: revamped retro shapes

“This season, we have a mix of revamped retro shapes!” says Cindy Villeneuve, optician. From small cat-eye glasses inspired by the ‘50s, to ‘70s oversized frames — and, of course, the round-shaped classics from the ‘60s — we see a nice variety of silhouettes in the spring and summer collections.

Trend #3: contrasts that attract

This spring, subtlety and audacity are both in style!

An important part of the spring/summer 2021 collection features delicate and extremely refined frames. Made of light metals, these glasses are very comfortable. “This is increasingly requested by our customers,” reveals Cindy Villeneuve. This season, it is not uncommon to see acetate or plastic added to the end of very thin metal stems for increased comfort.

“On the other hand, acetate models have not completely vanished this season and are even becoming thicker, as if to highlight their relevance,” Jade smiles.

Trend #4: shades that make us look twice

We adore them — natural hues and shades of beige. Yes, nude is still in the spotlight this season. This year, we also celebrate green in numerous shades that inspire distinct atmospheres. Transparency is still in vogue, but eyewear brands are having fun with a variety of delightful pastel colours. Grey and taupe shades are once again in the spotlight this spring and summer, and are timeless classics you’ll never tire of wearing.

Trend #5: decorative accents

“This spring, pay attention to detail!” Cindy Villeneuve exclaims. The focus is on ornamentation — you can admire an array of little touches on several frames. Engraving and patterns on the stems, decorative acetate accents and much more… This season’s frames are anything but boring!
